Wolfgang Wiedner concentrated from the beginning on his immediate surroundings – his own studio and life in the country. Starting point for his landscape paintings are self-taken photos on the rambles through the environment, which are based on the corresponding Wahrnehmumgserlebnis.

These motifs, such as studio scenes, landscapes, flowers, fruits, animals are sensitive records of their own environment, but also open up to surreal image conceptions. He isolates certain pictorial elements, multiplies them in a manner similar to Pop Art and combines them into new compositions.

Wolfgang Wiedner is not a painter of simple still lifes and landscapes, but a reflective artist who finds amazing possibilities of contemporary artistic expression within a context of regionality and classical medium.
