MARIO DALPRA
Dalpra

Mario Dalpra is an Austrian artist known for his dynamic development and innovative approach to materials and concepts. His career began in the 1980s under Arnulf Rainer, focussing on overpainting techniques. Influenced by stays in Australia, Indonesia and India, he integrates Maori tattoos and Far Eastern aesthetics into his work. Since 2010, he has been working on expressionist wood and later on flowing bronze and aluminium creations. Dalpra’s paintings and sculptures are characterised by an aesthetic sensibility that places beauty above political statements. His ironic ‘Bag Sculptures’ (2016) criticised the commercialisation of art. His works reflect dualities such as perfection and imperfection and are characterised by cultural diversity and introspective themes.
