SEVDA CHKOUTOVA | ZENITA KOMAD | MARIA LEGAT

SEVDA CHKOUTOVA

*1978 in Sofia, Bulgaria
School of Applied Arts in Sofia and History of Art at the University in Sofia. Art history at the University of Vienna and at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

Chkoutova deals with constructions of femininity. …she provocatively asks questions about shame, morality, female desire between social attributions, norms and constraints. The body is political, her own naked body becomes an instrument. She demonstrates physical autonomy and at the same time juxtaposes sensuality, sensitivity and fragility.  Sabine Fellner

ZENITA KOMAD

* 1980 in Klagenfurt
She studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

Zenita Komad’s oeuvre spans a wide range from drawings, sculptural object paintings, scenic stagings to expansive installations. Her works touch through clear messages, poetic treatises and complex thought structures, which again and again go beyond the framework of the painterly space. Her special focus is on spirituality and its applicability.

MARIA LEGAT

* 1980 in Villach
She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Ashley Hans Scheirl as well as with Daniel Richter.

Legat’s paintings are political, but not reactions to the politics of the day; they are theoretically grounded, but not illustrations of zeitgeist flagship theorists; they are personal, but not an expression of individual mythologies. Legat draws and paints parables about the state of the world, entangles the viewer in a dense web of problems and evokes the question of one’s own involvement.  Roman Grabner

Exhibition until August 31, 2023 Mon- Sat from 10 – 18.00, Sun by appointment.
