Anna Stangl deals primarily with drawing in a poetically figurative manner. The focus of her work is the human body, especially the female body, but also plants and strange animal creatures. A strange, slightly unsettling, poisonously beautiful world of intimations, soul confusions and unexplained threats emerges in her work.

"Two qualities stand out quickly and clearly in Anna Stangl's works and press for their naming as causes of contemplative desire. Firstly, these works show a certain tenderness towards their objects: a formal quality that is expressed, for example, in the fine lines, but also in the childishly pleasurable scrawly contours. And secondly, as a striking quality of these works, there is a very characteristic kind of charming humour: it is evident in the postures of the figures or also in the situations depicted, for example the peculiar encounters of human beings with animals."
