Karl Karner

1973 born in Feldbach
2007 - 2012 Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, Prof. Zobernig

As a trained art caster, draughtsman and performance artist, Karl Karner often moves on the deconstructivist, surrealist plane. He sees man as a producer of culture, but also as a product of his culture. In the field of tension of the media society, Karl Karner stages the question of what it means to be human and, as a creator of new nodes, provides an irritating, deformed counter-world.

"The overall appearance of the sculpture seems abstract throughout, as the result of a proliferation, a growth whose closest analogies we find in nature itself, for example in the form of a coral reef. Nevertheless, reference should be made to the creative influence of the artist, whose signature materially condenses into sculpture: a sculptural approach that defies the classical term."
